And the only thing Fear has to fear is Janeway.
23ReplyI don't know if this is a hot take, but I love that episode. Anytime Star Trek took what is essentially an emotion, gave it form, and interacted with it, I found it fascinating.
21ReplyNot a hot take, the truth. Doing abstract things like that is where Star Trek excelled.

One of the best Trek scenes of all time: Fear: "I'm afraid." Hologram Clone of Janeway: "I know." Fear: "Drat."
Fade to black.
Moral of the story: The only thing you have to fear will be born in Indiana and her name is Kathryn Janeway.
19ReplyAfter all, she did detransition an enby and force it to become a heterosexual woman through conversion therapy and surgical modification.
-4ReplyDon't blame Janeway. The real culprit is the same person who killed trans icon Jadzia Dax: Rick Berman. 😉
In all seriousness, I agree with you. Seven was a good character that the writers and producers made some egregious mistakes with.

I keep thinking about the killer clown from the Orville episode Firestorm. Which was basically the same thing - a manifestation of fear.
(Sorry about the CAM quality)

It’s also worth noting that Voyager alum Brannon Braga directed that episode of The Orville.
6ReplyI was young when this episode came out and it absolutely terrified me. I still find it scary to the point where I’ll turn it off sometimes when it comes on. Great ep though, and Janeway is a badass.
4ReplyI don't blame you, it's very disturbing!
