Q: What is the state of #Rust bindings? How well developed are solutions like cxx-qt? Any good examples of KDE Qt6 apps written Rust to use as references?
@me@kde@floss.social@kde@lemmy.kde.social Creating simple apps is straightforward. Since bindings are in progress, it requires manual bridging but eventually it should allow you to write Pure rust apps without ever touching c++. A simple drop-in crate!
I want to know if is there any chance the KDE e.v. can give support or help to important extragear KDE apps in their development, like Calligra. There's been an great effort to polish the official bundle apps (dolphin, konsole, Kate/kwrite, kdenlive...) but stuff like Calligra (and even "official" stuff like Falkon) get much less love although many people use them, even on a daily basis, like me. Calligra is in a sad state - Karbon is almost dead - and still nowadays offline office apps are a must for many people, let alone a web browser.
I'd even dare to say I'd like to see a rebirth of KDE Telepathy.
