  • How would this compare to the CubeXX? I'm just starting to think about getting one of these systems so I'm looking into options. I watched the comparison video posted the other day, and pretty much picked that one out of the options he presented. I definitely like the horizontal style over the vertical, and the CubeXX looked to be the best of their budget options in that regard.

In reading up a bit, it looks like the RG406 line is Android-based, while the CubeXX uses their own custom OS. And the RG406's T820 CPU appears to be quite a bit better than the H700 on paper. And square vs rectangle screen, obviously.

What does that get me in the real world? Can the RG406 handle more/newer systems? Better or different features? The video the other day implied that there were alternative OSes I could try, is that a thing here for the Android ones too?

Looks like it's about a $150 price difference, at least based on the CubeXX ($95) and the existing RG406V ($249). 2.5x is a pretty big difference!

So I guess I'm curious if it's worth it or not? Primarily looking to run SNES/Sega and earlier, but there are definitely a handful of N64, PS1, and PS2 games that I'd love to play again if possible.

    • For the OS, with the Android ones there are usually very few to no alternative options, mostly batocera (but you will have to wait a bit until a version for this one gets made). The CubeXX should handle up to ps1/n64, but you would need a device like this for ps2/gamecube. I personally don’t think it’s worth it as I mainly want to play N64/SNES/Arcade on a device like this, but I do have a steam deck which does up to switch so maybe you decide differently.
