Interesting to note that from January 1st it will finally be possible to use the 2022 cars to train drivers or remain familiar with the procedures. The use of cars similar to the current ones is decidedly more attractive and therefore increases attention. A new feature is that all competitors will have to be informed about the characteristics of the test, the purpose, who will drive and where (in addition to the FIA). #Formu1a #F1

I understand there is a testing limit as part of leveling the playing-field and reducing costs for teams, but is there a reason why the restrictions are set where they are?
Why not 3 weekends of preseason testing? or 400km for filming days? I've just wondered how they've decided on the specific amounts of testing.
2Now we are in the cost-cap era this all seems pretty pointless.
1That's what I'm thinking too. The only reasonable argument I can think of is that not all teams have equal access to testing facilities.
Maybe testing time should be allocated like windtunnel time or CFD time?
