47Yeah, I honestly think it's really interesting! More specifically, Seuss was in the Signal Corps to make propaganda like this alongside other artists you might know such as Stan Lee! Lee even made propaganda/survival comics for troops since a lot of them couldn't be bothered to read manuals for a lot of their equipment lol.
11Well that's why it's weird, because I seem to recall he was sympathetic to the nazis, while this picture is mocking the concept of america first by pairing it with an unsightly person representing the nazis.

Seek out Rachel Maddow's podcast, Ultra. I'm about 1000 light years from a Maddow fan but its actually a really good piece of investigative work about the explicitly and powerfully pro-fascist America First movement during ww2 and after. It just never ceases to be true, that no matter how much you accept the closeness of American patriotism and genocidal dictatorial fascism, the reality is always that they're a little closer than you thought.
