I wouldn't be so opposed to a trial if the jury gets to decide not only on facts, but on the law, and whether or not to apply the law in this circumstance (aka Jury Nullification).
14I just found this community, so maybe I'm out of line, but that's been tried and they ended up convicting a lot of literal witches.
I don't have anything to add about this specific case, but no fixed regulations and rule by popularity is not somewhere we should go back to.
