Why is my desktop client better than my docker client?

I am running a servarr setup on a mini PC using qbittorrent as the torrent client in a docker container with a mullvad vpn.

I also have an ubuntu laptop on the same LAN. The router has a VPN on it so the whole network is under that VPN.

The [transmission] torrent client on my laptop is far, far better at finding peers and downloading torrents/files than the one in the servarr stack (I have tried both transmission and qbittorrent). It's actually quite painful. I have tried with the router VPN off and it made no difference.

Is this a problem with indexers? I don't see why, when I download using a magnet link from 1337 on my desktop client it runs fine/quickly - but even though I have 1337 as one of my indexers, the docker client for the servarr stack is awful at finding peers and downloading.
