Why do so many Lemmy posts end with the word rule? rule
Why do so many Lemmy posts end with the word rule? rule
The thing i said in the title
There are a lot of communities across the fediverse based off of r/196, where the only rule is that you have to post something before leaving. I ended up blocking most of those communities because of the spam.
6ReplyI accidentally subscribed to it, and since I get a 500 error every time I try to visit it (problem with fedia.io I think) I cannot unsubscribe.
It's kind of annoying.
2ReplySurprised I'm not banned from there, Ive commented on posts from those communitues multiple times before and never once posted
0ReplyIt's not exactly enforceable

it's a trend from the community 196@lemmy.blahaj.zone idk why it's spreading other than that is a very quickly growing community
3ReplyThe rule in 196 is that once you've visited, you must post before leaving. Thus, the title suffix "rule".
2ReplyI'd like to see them make me. Fuck them and their "rule"
2ReplyI once visited that sub (to block it) and didn't post when I left. Faced no consequences believe it or not.

I personally blocked those communities. They just took up too much of my feed with low quality content.
1ReplyRule
1ReplyThe 196 and 195 communities have only 1 rule. If you visit the community, you must post.
1ReplyThere’s nothing to stop anyone from not doing it.
2ReplyYes there is. That would be against the rules. Duh.

(and usually, use the word "rule" in the title)

196, I like that community and seen a lot of fun stuff there, but I can see how it could be too spammy for some.
0ReplyContent has been slowly increasing but my first few days were 99% 196 and German posts until I blocked those communities haha

The front page is still very broken here on Lemmy and kbin. If a community is very active, it will show you nearly every post from that community. Depending on what time of day I log on, all the posts will be in German.
