A bittersweet goodbye to one of my favorite soap scents. I'm down to 39 tubs of soap now, and I'm PIFing 2 more that will be out of the house tomorrow with any luck... so that'll put me at 37. Thrilling!
This is the 11th tub that I've killed.
Congrats on the kill!
2023.08.03 SOTN (#UNCHALLENGE shave #3):
AA Day 3! I was looking forward to this shave, due to this malarkey. A cooling shave was needed. The shave went off without a hitch. No complaints; no challenge.

I forgot to post yesterday, so here I go. Ok shave, and my skin seems to be alright with just the aftershave.

Ok shave. I wasn’t paying attention and got a bit raw on my neck in the spot that hair grows in the strangest direction. This razor is nice and works well but the Overlander is still my favourite.
This scent is amazing and the menthol is perfect. The lime is so powerful and fresh it’s definitely one of the best.

Austere August: Day: 3
MRTNG's Ultra Nightmare Mode
Midnight Stag Challenge
Start of Austere August for me, on Day 3 here. I'll make up for it in September.
Going to keep using the Nacet, and this is shave 501 with it.
(Timeless - Stainless Steel .68 - Open Comb ::: Gillette - Nacet - M ‹501 uses›)
A little tuggy on first pass, and it just too 4 to get the job done enough for tonight. Close result.
Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 2 out of 5 (Okay)
(Chiseled Face - Midnight Stag - White Label)
I just love all the aspects of this scent!
Scent Strength: 6/10, nicely present during shaving.
Lather... Thought I'd try the slurry lather today. So I started with a very wet brush. Loaded for 10 seconds or so, and then put that on my face. It wasn't quite enough soap to get going, so I went back for a little more. This gave me that slurry, slick super wet layer on my face, which was pass 1.
Pass 2 started looking more like a mature lather, since it was starting to come together more.
I had plenty of lather for 5 passes using this face lathering method. How about that you overloaders?!
Hydration: Perfect (for me)
Bowl: No Bowl
(Zenith - r/wetshaving MOAR BOAR B35/508A XL ‹26 uses›)
Since this guy is still young, the slurry lather method still translated a lot of backbone, though the tips softened it up somewhat.
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Just a little tugging
Neck: Just a little tugging
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Very Close Shave
Neck: Many hairs show whisker tips with a little length to them
Ending of Blades Ledger - entry form and the data spreadsheet
The Third Day Of Weckoning is upon us
I just figured out that I tended to load to much these last days. I always struggled hydrating the first one or two passes enough, and it's because I had underestimated how efficiently this hard knot (it's got the strongest backbone of all my brushes, because of the very tight Will Ferrule) picks up the Soft Heart base. Stellar shave today, and I've dialed the soap in now, I think.
I also really enjoy summerly Oceana, followed by the almost literal slap in the face that is Ralon, and Island Man. Let the Austere Coasting begin.
