I thought that's always been the case. I did not expect that some of the requests will be evaluated locally.

We keep her on a window sill behind a curtain so she's not very good -we have to yell at her to manage the lights, tv, etc. Think I'll start asking everyday, "is Trump dead yet?" I a regular voice and see if the fbi shows up.
Oh wait, they mostly got fired, right?

Enjoy counting how many times I tell it it's a piece of shit on a daily basis. Half the time it doesn't play anything remotely close to the artist/album I request when listening to music. Other times it just flat out doesn't work. We got a few years ago when they were discounted around holidays - don't think we'll be buying any more.

Like most consumer tech, they started out pretty awesome and slowly got worse and worse as features got stripped away after countless patent infringement cases. Now pretty much all the "smart speakers" available are absolutely trash.
I've since disabled the mics on mine, and just use them for manually casting music.

Sooo how root-able are these? My family has had one unplugged for a couple years now, we tried to use it to reach less-techy family but the French localization was abysmal, so it's stayed in the drawer of shame since. Seems like a good time to take it out and mess with it!

I assume it already did that. Which is (one of many reasons) why I don't have one.
