2 people who don't pay attention or don't want to pay attention to these things, would be a difficult conversation.
What about someone who's educated and pays attention to these things? If not, watch some long form videos of the other sides "talking heads" to get the gist of why they're upset about whatever issue - most people just parrot a few of these talking head people anyways. But do it with an open mind.
I'm saying this because I grew up doing something like that, scoffing at idiots following all these dogmatic religions and seeing all these rapey priests on TV. But then I met a few people who can articulate why they're religious - and it flipped my perspective about religion quite a bit. I'm still not religious, but it's much easier to understand those that are, and where they're coming from - and it's much easier to get along with a wider range of people IRL.
Most people genuinely want the best for everyone, even if the news headlines don't make it seem that way.
