The Democrats didn’t but the base was sure pissed about it. That party is constantly under fire from its own base because of how much they rely on being the only option that isn’t full-blown insane-o fascism. A lot of people are groomed into supporting fascism by being made to believe they are somehow opposing it by backing a certain fascist. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are doing this right now.

I’d say it should be primaries, but the DNC doesn’t really do those and their weird, sequential primary is designed to allow them to shape the outcome as it happens.

Politics is not about rational decision making as studies have shown. However most people think that they are completely logical with there political views. In reality they decide on a view and then find evidence to support it. It also doesn't help that the "news" these days is mostly a propaganda outlet whatever party they support.
I disagree with the idea that Biden is just as bad as Trump. Biden barely did anything in office. Trump is going full swing to push forward his policies. At least he has balls. (That may be one of his best qualities honestly)
