This painting reflects my deep connection to the ocean, a place where time seems to stop, allowing me to disconnect and find peace. Walking along the shore has always been a meditative experience for me, where I can lose myself for hours in the rhythm of the waves. Last summer I visited a beach in Oaxaca, Mexico and collected sand, which I mixed with oil paint to create the textured dress in the artwork. This is a technique that I learned from traditional Oaxacan art and is a very big part of the Oaxacan art history and I wanted to show my tribute to it. This technique also brings a tangible element of the real world into the painting, capturing the essence of the moment. Through this work, I aim to evoke the feeling of timelessness and peace that I experience by the sea.
