The Heat Mirage: My least-favorite internet maneuver

I have had people do that face-to-face.
The internet just makes it easier to find those people do that thing, instead of having them do so to a single person (with noone else listening), leaving them to do nothing other than grumble at themselves for expecting a consistent conversation.
