Planned for 400.000 people? Third largest city in California?
400k isn't even much in European standards. I don't get that claim.
8ReplyPer the article it's the "third largest by land area."
10ReplyIt might be by size and not by population, as there are several cities in California that surpass 400k people
4ReplyYea, I'm pretty sure I've heard of San Diego being referred to as California's 3rd largest city.
2Replydefinitely by area. it's "larger" than san jose, but with a million fewer people.

I don’t think this empty stretch of land would qualify as a city in any sensible definition. But sure third largest.
4ReplyIts not third largest because its empty land, otherwise other neighboring cities like tehachapi and Tejon ranch would have it beat. They call it thurd largest because they have designated streets with names that have nobody living on it.

We used to go camping in the California City desert all the time. It is super weird seeing cul-de-sacs and street signs with nothing but dirt.
4ReplyI drove through once to check it out.
It’s a weird-ass place. Like someone took a small desert town and stretched it over miles of empty scrubland.
2ReplyVery interesting article. Cheap land, sure. But, how's the fishing?
