Alright, as someone who has never played any Splatoon games, I had always been somewhat interested in it. I just don't play competitive games much so I just never got around to it. I do love a good single player though! So very excited to hear about Splatoon Raiders.
For those who have played Splatoon 3, how is it's single player mode? And if I were to jump in now, do you think I'd get curb stomped by Splatoon diehards in multiplayer? Also, I love coop modes, so salmon run looks like a lot of fun also.
S3's singleplayer is solid, doesn't quite live up to the highs of S2 Octo Expansion though. It admittedly does kinda feel like an afterthought, multiplayer is very obviously the core of the series. Side Order brings some cool ideas to the table and has a very good core loop, but the balancing is all over the place and it's a bit lacking in variety/content.
I'm really hoping this spinoff is more of an actual spinoff though, show me something new and different in using this IP rather than just another iteration of the same story mode formula sold at full price.
Thanks! And I agree, I really hope this spinoff shoots their shot at something fresh and new.
It was never too frustrating to fail in multiplayer for me except for the cooperative modes. Salmon run was way too stressful for me because I felt like anytime I ended up with a sniper rifle, I was letting my team down.
In the normal matches, there’s almost always something to do. I hope you’ll give them a try and just ink what you can. Remember that ground is what scores points, not splats.
I might pick it up actually! My favorite competitive games are all objective based (Battlefield Conquest, the Finals, etc). So knowing that the objective isn't kills is good to hear. Are there other objective based game modes?
I have been waiting to see if Splatoon 3 would get an update for Switch 2, so this is great!
Though I'm somewhat hesitant to spend $85 on the game plus the DLC.
I may end up trying to get a used copy of the game and THEN just buy the DLC separately.
I was hoping for a proper single-player Splatoon game when they were teasing Splatoon 3. Glad that we are finally getting it!
