Satanic Temple accuses Iowa officials of religious discrimination

The group’s holiday observances garnered national attention in 2023 after a Mississippi man destroyed their Iowa Statehouse display depicting the horned deity Baphomet, which was permitted in the rotunda along with a Christmas tree and other religious holiday installations.
“This satanic event, which specifically targeted children, would have been harmful to minors and so it was denied," Reynolds said.
While it doesnt explicitly say the 2024 installation was the same as 2023, im going to assume it was at least similar. And to say that the depiction of a horned deity could be harmful to minors is out rageous when you campare it to the churches who worship a withering, bloody dead man nailed to a cross. One of these is way more horrifying.

  Yeah, the satanic temple is awesome. I love their t-shirts. I am not aware of anything “problematic” other than complaints by pearl clutchers because they have satan in their name.

- The Iowa officials? I agree. While this article makes no mention of what was approved for the 2024 holiday season for comparison, I was able to find that there was a rosary prayer event at the Iowa state capitol. Someone could have used the rosary beads to strangle, or used Catholic guilt to emotionally abuse children. Given the risk of danger to the children, that event should not have been approved.
  Now I assume you were talking about The Satanic Temple and not the Iowa officials. TST performs an important role in our society of reminding the community and the legislators that Christianity cannot be given preferential treatment by the government. They are a vital warden against the tendrils of theocracy. That is to say, for what they do to be perceived as problematic, there is a greater failing that needs to be addressed. If everything is working as it should, there are either no religious displays in government venues, or all religions are welcome.
