Some fair points but the move to element x and new authentication wasn't it.
Authentication was a nightmare and the new one standardizes and allows for oidc, better security, etc.
Element was SLOW and standardizing on the rust SDK and moving to element x was the best move. Threads and spaces will come in time but the speed was needed. That and schildichat already has their own x client so it's not like theyre deciding what to do.
Definitely pain points remain but I feel the author just got in too early. I don't blame them for being tired but now I think matrix is finally somewhat near a turning point.
It could be at a turning point, and it would be nice to see.
But damn, it does get old waiting years for it to make that turn.
Not saying that a project like that should be perfect in six months or anything, but some of the flaws have been there from the beginning and show no signs of progress, even with elementX being an improvement.
Mind you, I still like it. I still use it, and likely will until the wheels fall off. But it's a third class entity currently.
