Bored and lonely, how's everyone doing?
Bored and lonely, how's everyone doing?
Any Friday/weekend plans? None for me as usual. Anything anyone wants to talk about, no matter how mundane you think it might be I’d enjoy chatting with you.

My niece has 4 performances tomorrow (end of theater camp) so between drop off pickup and seeing a show I’m driving 3 hours tomorrow. Ugh. lol. Then school shopping Sunday it’s tax free weekend and we are almost 10% here in TN.
Nope! I've been isolating myself, working out, doing some mini painting, playing bass, and sitting in the dark and quiet every evening when I get home from work this week.
It's been nice, a little sad and lonely at times but it feels good overall, and I plan to continue it all weekend long! Maybe a nice long walk or two, too!
I haven't had time to myself before getting sober this year. Always out at the pub or peoples' houses, and it is nice to take all my time back and spend it by myself. Much cheaper, too!
My banana crumb cake turned out tasty, but it didn't grow as much as I wanted. I kind of forgot to take into account climate on yeast times, plus I'm not used to cakes so I had no clue if the batter grew as much as it should (for breads this is easier for me).
Beyond that I'm playing some Pokemon Emerald. Mostly abusing RNG manipulation for shinies, and faketime for berries. I'll probably start some Leaf Green or Fire Red playthrough, gotta catch'em all...
Bought a bottle of vodka. Now dumping all citrus skins in it. Some months later I'll have my fun with it.
No plans for Fri/Sat/Sun as of yet.
I’ve never heard of banana crumb cake but it sounds good.
Here's a picture, stolen from some cooking site (because it looks better than mine):

It's a common dish here in Paraná, known locally as "cuque de farofa e banana"; basically Streuselkuchen plus sliced bananas. I'll share the recipe I followed, it works fine, it's just that I didn't give the yeast enough hours to act:
My hair is getting longer but is always frizzy. Have not been to hairdresser in couple years so probably should seek their advice.
This weekend is my turn for my weekly board game club! Its just four of us, we rotate who's the game master each week and we meet on Saturdays. Game master gets to put forth the board game options, and then we vote on which to play. It's been really cool, and its been a great excuse to get some ridiculous board games. I'm probably going to put forth Nemesis, HoMM3, and Dead Cells this week, unless I come up with something better.
I think you should consider treating yourself this weekend, do something small and nice just for you. Even if it's just something like going out for a tasty lunch as an excuse to put on clothes and get out of the house!
Dead Cells for a board game? Is this similar to the video game?
A board game club does sound cool, I’m not a huge fan but I do enjoy them.
And yeah I try not to be too hard on myself and treat myself to something from time to time even if I don’t necessarily feel like I deserve it. I do have some beer in the fridge, I don’t generally drink a lot, I never partied in high school or college but I do like having a couple drinks once awhile just to relax a little. Still that doesn’t exactly get me out of the house haha. Was gonna try to go on a run though, been a few weeks since I’ve done because I was given my body some much needed rest but feel like it might be time to get back into it
Today has been okay for me. Had a doctor's appointment, which went fine. I've been sleepy all day, though, and suspect I accidentally took a sleeping pill instead of an antidepressant this morning.
Antihistamines? The first generations make you super sleepy, or you took actual prescriptions?
An actual sleep med.
I am dogsitting my nephew's dog this weekend. She's a sweetheart. I'm getting tons of puppy kisses. Though I had to put her to bed a little while ago. If I picked my phone up, she would run off to act like she's going to do something naughty in order to get me to put the phone down and give her attention. Such a smart little stinker. But I was trying to finalize some travel plans for next month and she was having none of it.
Ha nice. I just dog sat for brother and his girlfriend. Also very sweet dog, likes to cuddle on the couch, and lets you know when she wants to play, we had a good time hanging out
Any Friday/weekend plans?
Haha, people always ask me that, and then I feel bad, because I don't have a real answer. I've got no plans either most of the time.
Just playing some Endless Sky.
I think I'll spend most of the weekend on yard work.
Depressed and horny 👌but dont worry for me it's getting worse 🙃
Any Friday/weekend plans?
Read & write. Spend time with my spouse. Hopefully, being done with some that has been preventing me to walk as much I would have liked for the last week.
if you're looking for something to do this WE, have you considered reading? I mean, I'm well into my 50s and I can't remember that many times in my life I felt bored (or lonely), thanks to books. It doesn't matter the type of book or their genre, they're great companions ;)
If you're more into games and want to chat with people: chess maybe an option: play a few games (for free on lichess.org, or even on chess.com but this one comes with ads) and with any luck a conversation might start with another player. You can also check in your area oif there is no club/public place where people can play IRL
I recently started reading more books and really enjoy it. My only problem is, there is so much choice, I feel overwhelmed. At the moment I just read some random books that I got for free from someone. In the city there is also a public bookshelf. Does your city have this as well?
I also tried chess, but could never really get into it. I can never remember which moves I'm allowed to make with the pieces.

It's normal to feel overwhelmed as there is an almost limitless amount of books to chose from. The best advice I may give you is to talk to your local library. Most librarians are more than happy to help a new reader find their bearings (based on what you think you might enjoy, say scifi, or fantasy, or romance, or biographies, or whatever), no matter your previous (lack of) experience :)

Library? We do (multiple ones), but I do live in a rather large city.

You will learn the rules by playing, there are not that many they're just... arbitrary (like any rule). To learn the basics you can create a free account on chess.com and follow their beginner tutorial (there is no need to subscribe to one of their paid plan), or you can use lichess.org (100% free, this time): https://lichess.org/learn and then you can start playing against players or bots (at least on chess. com there are bots for absolute beginners to play against).
The one tip as a beginner that is just starting is to be ok with losing a lot of games. That's to be expected, don't take it personally. That's how most of us learn... anything, by failing and by being bad at it to begin with ;)
I read every day, currently working my way through IT.
That's a good habit ;)
King has written many great books, 'It' is not one of my favorite of King, but it was good nonetheless! Maybe I should re-read it nowadays to see if I would have a different opinion (I read it many, many years ago).
Nothing exciting for me. Been ill half the week and not sleeping so I’ll try catch up on that. How about you?
Nope nothing exciting either, never have any plans
Do you have hobbies? I am gonna research a new lawnmower this weekend too. I excited by that!
I've been sorta under the weather as well. if I feel ok, I'll do what I do most Friday nights and volunteer at a community radio station about 2 hours away. It's pretty fun. Really need to catch up on house and yard stuff sometime this weekend.
My wife and I have a little shopping to do tomorrow before a bday dinner tomorrow night.
One of our stops will be at Total Wine so I can stock back up on weed drinks.
