The Fourth Year of Floating Is Fun by hitstun

August 3 is the old subreddit's cake day, and that means it's time for another yearly recap. We continue to grow stronger than ever with 700 subscribing airheads, and I appreciate each and every one of you for sticking around. We no longer have the most threads of any Mbin community, and that's fine. We all post on other communities too, and it all makes our Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed amalgamation a better place to be.

I've made some changes to utilize Fediverse features better. I now add alt text on all my posts, replacing most of the comments I used to write. Alt text isn't required in the rules, but the additional context is helpful whether the images load or not. Piefed has some ambitious new features, and I've started adding Piefed features like post flairs to existing posts. The wiki is the last thing I haven't brought over from the old subreddit, and I will replace it with a Piefed wiki soon. My Mbin CSS broke a little bit, particularly for users that prefer dark mode but haven't selected a theme, so I still need to patch that up.

I feel like Floating Is Fun had really good variety and quality this past year. GIFs that I convert using Ezgif do much better than links to videos. and they're worth the extra effort. I'm glad some real life examples of floating are finally getting attention this way, and we've gotten out of our anime art rut. Some of our top posts weren't from me, and it's great to see more airheads posting the kinds of things they want to see. Keep 'em coming!

For this year's top ten, I ~~stole~~ adapted the !lemmydirectory@lemmy.dbzer0.com format from this top posts post. Too bad there isn't a consistent way to give inline images alt text. I didn't include last year's recap but its (👍38 👎0) record would make it 2nd place if I did.
