I don't even get what it's supposed to mean? Like it's basic knowledge fem HRT doesn't change your vocal chords...
And even despite my voice for ever having been mutilated by testosterone, that doesn't mean voice practice doesn't work and doesn't produce tangible results...
It's a response to a hypothetical transphobe trying to discourage transfems from thinking they can achieve a feminine voice. It's not a likely insult, as HRT not adjusting vocal chords isn't common knowledge outside of queer communities. Cishet people are often surprised to learn that I had to train for my voice, as most of them just don't think about it. Only the most dedicated and weirdo transphobes would think of this insult.
It's also meant to be silly and unrealistic situation, as evidenced by the nom :3
Thanks for the explanation w

I was bored watching some TV I'm not interested in, so I redrew the meme to send to my friend.
The running joke is that she keeps biting me every time we visit, so soon there will be nothing left of me before long. I left out the text and changed the colors, but it shouldn't be difficult for anyone with a tad of editing experience to add them back.
I have very malleable vocal chords. I'm currently trying to abuse them into sounding like Eivør. It'll take time but I will manage it eventually.
That is disturbing, please put an nsfw
Does this not apply to trans men too?
I think not as much, or I guess as long as they are doing testosterone. That hormone alters the vocal cords, but there isn’t an easy way back. That said, I’m a trans woman so I acutely feel the ravages it did to me, if there are trans men in the audience I would love to hear from them.
Edited to fix a couple typos for clarity.
There is voice training for transmascs, but they do have a leg up in how testosterone actually changes their voice. Most of their training would be about masculine speech patterns to learn and feminine ones to unlearn. Using volume for intonation and emphasis instead of pitch for example (the reverse of what fem voice training would do).
testosterone will thicken vocal folds, helping with weight, but it won't increase the size of the vocal tract, so trans masculine voices often sound overfull and gnome-ish
