Mbin has <1k users combined across 10 instances that allow sign-ups (and adding Kbin to it helps not at all with only one instance remaining, in Poland)
PieFed.social alone already has nearly 1k active users, and then there are several tens of instances (surely more of them allow sign-ups than it indicates though, like PieFed.zip)
Plus the user base of PieFed has quadrupled in the last few months, rather than stagnating and actually decreasing in the same time period.

tardigram.com does not show up in my link, but does in yours. Perhaps Fediverse Explorer is only showing sites that have an English option, whereas FediDB includes other languages by default?
Both are good but PieFed has currently more hype. I am seeing more and more PieFed domains (and users of course). Also there is now a variety of apps that supports PieFed.
I did a poll + discussion at https://discuss.online/post/19430152 and the consensus was that Threadiverse predated Threads plus all the more so now that it died people refused to back down from it, plus liked it more than Forumverse or other terms. I have no skin in this game but I wish we'd just pick one, whatever it may be:-|.
In terms of zeitgeist I think Piefed has won by far. I hardly see people suggest mbin as an alternative to Lemmy anymore. I'm pretty happy with mbin though! There are dozens of us!
We can all still hang out across them all, so IMO popularity of a single platform doesn't really matter that much. If they were all separately contained and couldn't share content with each other like X to Reddit or Facebook, etc, that would make a bigger difference cuz people would want to go where the rest of the people are.
Mbin in compact mode looks the most like old reddit compact. That's what keeps me on Fedia.io. I can't get either Lemmy or Piefed to look quite as clean and compact as mbin.

So this gun fight is already over, pardner ๐ค
