There's actually a lot of pretty good British food; unfortunately, it's typically quite terrible for you. Like, I'll fight anyone who wants to disparage a sausage roll, but I also understand that some people don't want the food they put in their body to hurt them.
I'm not British... Or healthy ... But I've had scotch eggs once and thought them amazing.
Cottage pie, steak and kidney pudding, bread and butter pudding... all marvellous. And a proper roast or fry up are fit for kings
Not a brit, but steak and chedder pies are delicious. So are scotch eggs.
I think all the hate british food gets is because their most famous dishes are peasant dishes prepared and eat by the lower classes while other countries are known for their haute cuisine made for and eatten by the wealthy.
Peasant food is often the best food in any country imo.
And what is Britain's haute cuisine?
Scotch Eggs... Omfg, those are fucking incredible.
I had British parents so I can confirm.
I had shepards pie at a pub once. Full disclosure I was 13 years old (traveling with family). I thought it was okay as I recall. That’s British, right?
Not a brit, but I know the traditional "Full English" breakfast: Everything is fried. Even the tomatoes Oops, the tomatoes are grilled. The toast, however, is often fried, and not only on Christmas!
Honestly
I'm obviously biased as a Brit, but anyone who can look me in the eye after having the experience of a full English (or Scottish/Irish, a proper full Welsh is definitely a subject of understandably niche interest) breakfast and a good Sunday roast, and say we have shit food here is frankly a bit of a philistine.
And there's more to the chippy than fish and chips
Edit: on re-read, I'm realising you might not be fully on board, have a proper one and you'll understand. Also, I'll have you know, we don't fry our beans, and fried toast is a Christmas luxury
Fried toast is FIT. Bloody lovely. My nan made hers taste like heaven (RIP)
