This guy has been hanging over my door a couple days. I fear he might be dead.

Hibernation ? If yes, don't wake them up because the amount of energy to wake up will break hibernation and may cause death, I'm totally not an expert but here are my guess
That would be unfortunate for the bat to choose here for hibernation. Our neighbors can be noisy
Dress up like a bat and dance around with a wheel of cheese. Please the bat and will grant you 1.5 wishes. One wish will only come half true, and there's no way to know which wish, or which half.
Be leery. Bats are the #1 carriers of rabies and this seems unusual behavior. Like the other post said, call a wildlife rehab.
I would call a local wildlife rehabilitator and get their opinion. Searching “wildlife rehab” plus your location hopefully turns up someone.
If not, your state/province/national wildlife, parks, or environmental department would hopefully be able to tell you who you can contact. They might even send one of their staff.
And if all else fails, call around to local vet clinics. One may know a rehab organization in the area.
