23My parents were like this and I was a good boy up until university once I started failing engineering.
Tried to suicide by police but here in Canada they just take you to a mental hospital instead of filling you with lead.
Moral of the story is let your kids be themselves and don’t make them feel bad for having their own interests even if it is not in engineering
16Ope, I lucked the fuck out that I actually like engineering because yeah I was gonna do it or be a disappointment. Jokes on them I became a disappointing engineer

I'm okay with most of what my kids say they want to be when they grow up, but I really hope my son outgrows his police officer phase. If nothing else, I don't want his parentage called into question.
