A little bit puzzling at first, but it does make sense.
With starfield coming out, they don’t want people to get the trial to essentially play it for free and then stop using the service.
1 month is just about enough time to beat a large game for someone who has a few hours a day to play. 14 days won’t be enough for most people.

0How is changing the trial time the start of enshitification? It doesn't affect the actual service at all.
17It's already a popular enough opinion that gamepass is too good a deal for the price they're charging yet some of the loudest people on public forums will warn, and I bet act, like the world is coming to an end cause they're pulling out of the "try to get as many users as possible to try and get comfortable on the service" phase. If it becomes too expensive for your tastes, just cancel. Otherwise it's just a good deal you can enjoy until it happens.
It's not even enshittification. It's not like the service got "worse."8
It's a free trial for a service that offers limited time free games.

7I mean they were clearly (and still are) in their penetration stage, anybody could have told you that the current conditions and pricepoint are only temporary.
It's obvious that the endgame for Gamespass will look a lot worse for the consumer than the current offering, mostly because it probably doesn't make a lot of business sense for them otherwise.
