  • This was always one of my favorite armor types. It always seemed like if I had some tin snips, leather straps and rivets I could make this at home with very minimal equipment. I probably have all the tools now but not the supplies. Though I did come into half a tanned hide so I guess I just need the sheet metal and rivets.

  • I wonder how feasible it would be to try to separate out the ribs on the armour's left side. Are they simply too far gone, or might it help with reconstruction efforts? (keeping in mind that the restorers likely and logistically wouldn't have needed to do so in this particular case)

    But other rusted-together candidates come to mind, such as fused coin hoards. Sure, generally it's not good to mess with coins in any way, but maybe in some rare cases it's actually worth trying...
