Paying for a cheater infested pvp game is not something I can see myself doing.
I quite like the singleplayer mod. Also the devs apparently support the russian invasion of Ukraine, so don't give them your money anyway.
I agree, Single Player Tarkov was the only way I found the game playable. The bots could be decently balanced so there was still some challenge and risk to the game.

Wouldn't know. Like I said I can't see myself paying money for a game infested with cheaters. This is the game that made people aware of the wiggle even among those that didn't play.
Hit up a buddy that enjoys rage baiting cheaters in game by cheating and hunting them down.
At the moment he says there's about 2 cheaters for every 10 legit players in a lobby not counting himself.
Which is definitely down from when it peaks right after a wipe. The highest iv seen it at personally is 6 in 10. But that's normally only few a few weeks right after a wipe when all the RMT cheaters are running around.
Arena is apparently worse off tho with the high ranks being basically just HvH gameplay at the moment.

Yeah it would be the exception for a game that comes to Steam later in its life to give out Steam keys to current owners.
I haven't read the article, but just going off the title, if that's accurate: isn't that how it'd be for any game? I'm not defending it but the only platform I've seen devs give Steam keys to players for ownership on has been on itch.io.
People don't suddenly get rewarded cross-platform ownership just because they bought it on one platform. Same with Unrailed, had it come out on Switch first and Steam later, etc.; they must re-buy if they want it on Steam. Same with Slay the Spire: existing Steam owners don't suddenly gain Android access just because it released on Droid, etc.
The system is still “PC” in this case, even if technically the platform is different. And since you have to log into your account with their service, they can easily confirm that you own the game.
I don’t have to create an account to play Slay the Spire on Android.
Was the same for ESO, if you bought it before it made its way to steam you would have to buy it again through steam if you want to play it through steam.
Doesn't mean it isn't scummy. In today's day and age, where you can link every platform with every other platform, they could have integrated their existing account system with Steam and make the game available to people that already own the game.
But there is more money to squeeze out of their playerbase.
The title is accurate, and I agree with you; there is no need for an outrage. I don't know a single game that would give free keys for another platform. It would be cool, though.
Many individual devs on itch.io will do so (I think not Slice & Dice's dev, though, sadly)!
cross-platform keys should be industry standard if it wasn't for greed.

Looked for a Tarkov alternative with pve option (because I don't need any more sodium in my diet) and found gray zone warfare. It's a pre alpha and is in a pretty playable state, plus it's an entire open world which is fantastic.
Soon, in October, we'll have a new demo for Road to Vostok, a fully pve extraction game made by a single dev that, quite honestly, looks amazing. You should check it out. I think the EA version will come out in 2026.
And made with Godot, an open source game engine!
Honestly the best pve alternative to tarkov is just pve tarkov it self.
It's just a dedicated coop experience, and even has mods.
I regret buying it the first time.
