Fascinating. You know, they seem to be really up on this technology at the Steamship Arabia museum in Kansas City {midwest US}. They have anoxia rooms, in their research facilities, for preserving thousands of leather and other organics excavated from an low oxygen environment, i.e., the buried steamship Arabia. The archivists also use chemical freezing to preserve artifacts that would crumble if exposed to ambient conditions, perhaps ethanol? EDIT: Fixed punctuation around the ship's name.
