Rachel Cohen on Instagram: "yesterday, I got arrested outside of 1930 Beach St in Broadview, a Chicago suburb where ICE has moved their worst operations after protestors chased them out of Chicago. it’s highly discouraged to post about arrest before things are settled. I’m making this choice independently. I think action begets action, and people want places to plug in. there’s lots of ways to protest and I don’t think you need to engage in civil disobedience—I think people with lots of privilege should bear that risk. I’m inspired by other activists who have recognized this risk is worth bearing, many of them non-white. In fact, recently, @_meganthuy, @iangelcarroll and @jessicacohenatx were arrested in the Texas Statehouse. you should follow them! opportunities for action exist across the country. immigrants’ rights groups, abolitionist orgs and mutual aid groups can point you there. if you’re wondering how bad things are, please know I spent my entire life working to be palatable and successful. I also spent it wondering what I would have done during the civil rights movement, or in 30s Germany. now is when you find out. the brutality of our immigration system exists under both parties, and we need drastic change beyond change of president. I’m committed to working towards that as long as I can. barring major potential legal implications arising, I’ll be back at Broadview with Qasim Rashid on Friday, September 5, from 7 to 9 am. hope to see you there. #chicago #fyp"

Friday 9-19 Peaceful Protest from 7a-9a, and then again at 6pm at 1930 Beach St in Broadview. The protest has grown to be much larger than the video record. Civil disobedience appreciated, peaceful sign waiving is also welcome.
