Sydney's Club 77 set to close for renovations in 2026

Club 77 is temporarily closing its doors in 2026 for a major renovation aimed at improving accessibility.

The longstanding venue, which has been a staple for 28 years, is receiving a Venue Upgrade Grant from Sound New South Wales to make the space more inclusive.

The club will shut down from April 13th to June 4th to undergo the redesign, led by Inochi Design Life's Kristie Paul. The upgrades include a wheelchair lift at the entrance, accessible bathrooms, a lowered bar, an accessible DJ booth and dance floor and a dedicated sensory room. The venue will also introduce haptic vests, Braille and tactile signage and ensure 1.5 metres of wheelchair turning space throughout.
