Windows 10 end of support is coming soon. Now is a good time to start easing friends and relatives into installing linux

Let's say someone (not me) wants to switch over from Windows 10 to Linux (definitely not me) but is too tech stupid (assuredly not me) to know how to do this.

Can anyone possibly help this person (who is obviously not me) with doing this? I'm sure she (who is again not me) would be grateful.

It's possible to already begin enrolling in the ESU program (Extended Security Update) for Win10 users, and even better, I believe there are still scripts that allow for an entirely free non-official approach - just for those who aren't yet interested in learning an entirely new system from scratch or switching to the nightmarish, AI-infested Windows 11. Personally thinking of switching to Linux tho, another middle finger to the imperialist surveillance of silicon valley

From what I heard they extended the support to October 2026.

Lucky me just got roped in to supporting someone's XP machine.

I've been trying to for over a year. They keep chickening out :(
