I still have a ways to go eliminating pointless words, but sensiblepuffin and Astrealix were absolutely correct that Fuck and Fucking feature very prominently.
Raya is up there too, with Kai. Does that mean Havertz was as good as Raya was poor?
I think I will exclude anything I recognise as a username in the next one, and I also want to add weighting for how many upvotes the comment the word came from got. I also want to make it look nicer - this is the default for the package I was using.
I feel pretty good about this for a first pass. Let me know what you guys think I can change.
Also a question cuz I don't see either on there: is Ødegaard and Odegaard considered together? Cuz I definitely type the former (to the point where my phone has autocorrect on Ødegaard) but I assume some people don't cuz it's a nuisance lol
Tbh I think this shows how much we feel strongly about Kai and Raya lol, Raya for good reasons but Kai really didn't have too special a game IMO though he was good, just that besides the goal i felt like there were players that were definitely better on the pitch not showing up here (rice is relatively tiny, for example)
I think it's also affected by the way we refer to particular players - declan and rice appear separately and similar sized but I would guess people refer to either declan or rice. Maybe I can account for this somehow, and count players as a single word regardless of how they're referred to. Kai would probably be the biggest by far if Havertz was counted together. Whereas saka and raya are going to be pretty accurate reflections of how frequent. I will consider ways to handle this at the weekends game!
Yeah the names are probably from our mastodon folks. Surprised by no ref talk, though I guess maybe the words were just something else given we all kinda knew what we were referring to
Should be easy enough to parse the names out at least, since they have the @ in front
I think I mentioned VAR only once when we didn't get a pen, but by and large it usually only gets said out loud when it's explicitly disallowing a goal
I hadn't even thought of just looking for the @, since at the moment it's getting stripped out pretty much straight away. My thought was to generate a list of the commenters and add that to my base list of disallowed words. I'll have to play around.
