Presentation went well despite not feeling 100% (run down and tired from crap sleep) and being nervous throughout. The show must go on, so I did my best. Just couldn't shake the nerves today. I think I did enough to convince the audience that I'm someone they could work with, that's what matters at the end of the day. And I had a few people stick around afterwards asking questions and taking my business card which I think is a good sign. We'll see what comes of it!
Well done on getting through it - they get easier with practice!
A win is a win!! Well done on getting through it despite those obstacles :)
Another interview done and moving to the next round!
Have another later this morning which is the one that I discussed the police check with.
Let’s see how it goes!
Edit: I think it went ok. They’ve done reference checks already before the interview and like I said, I gave a comprehensive explanation about the police check.
Let’s see what happens.
Good luck
I sent them a screenshot of my police check.
I’ve been completely transparent, taken responsibility and I haven’t had a single issue in 9 years.
There’s still a 50% chance they’ll knock me back though.
I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but it’s hard not to.
Gawd needed that sleep.
Don't have to deal with little meltdowns from ol' girl for the next 2 days. Takes its toll that's for sure. Some of them are head scratchers.. like refusing to get on the scales (she has to), then turning around and saying the only reason she's not gaining weight is because I'm not feeding her enough to get rid of her. Then come dinner, little meltdown about her not wanting to put ensure in her food and that we're bullying her. She'd be sub 40kg easy w/out it.
The real head scratcher is she has all her memory, knows what's happening but just refuses very easy things that'll help. It's a very weird form of incident dementia. You could easily just pass it off as just being old and grumpy and I'm sure a lot do. Thankfully ol' boy finally agrees w/ me that that's what it is. Doesn't change much except at least it's an explanation. Viewing it through that makes things bit less frustrating.
Lotta stigma there, so I can see why ol' boy is reluctant to get her into a neuro as it'd just be upsetting and yet another lengthy process for her. For me it'd be good know definitively but I'm done locking horns about that now.
But shit's stable, ignoring the meltdowns and just gonna keep doing what's working.
my MIL would rather die than accept my help,
then she phones other people to say I'm awful and won't help her
she refuses to accept she is old and has had hip and knee operations, she's 86, she won't stop driving, she won't use her cane, she won't get rails or ramps put in her house, and she won't let me, or anyone else help or do things
I understand pride and am sensitive but when she is actively mean and lies about me, and she has done it for decades, then I kinda don't care anymore
I suppose what I'm saying is that even in old age and being infirm personality is a big factor on outcome
Glad you're getting a bit of respite, that's a shit situation to be put in. You're fuckin' awesome for doing all that you are!
Dementia has some really weird effects on people, especially in how their personalities and thinking can change.
You’re doing an amazing job looking after your mum, in really difficult circumstances, and I hope you get the chance to unwind and have some time to yourself
Yeah, personalities change. Stubbornness, even rage. :( It’s really hard. I’m glad you’re getting a break.
Maybe get her one of those comfy hanging egg chairs but somehow suspend it with a luggage scale in the mix? Or hide a weight-remembering scale under her seat cushion? I KID, I KID.
For serious though you may be able to sub in neutral Ensure or protein powder for part or all of the milk powder in cream stew and it might not be noticed. Maybe even add some actual cream and/or cheese right at the end before whizzing it up. Just don’t let her catch you doing it 😏

Dementia support forums might also be really helpful and supportive during this time.
Thanks everyone for the kind wishes :)
Not even the concrete saw that's cranking across the road can get me down. For now lol
Goodnight all ❤️
Hope you get some decent sleep and I'm glad the search is over
Almost there stay on target! Cat stole one of the laser bits, I'll find it eventually.
Oh my God. Its huge!
(That's no moon) yep! And my original plan to hang it on a wall won't work.
cat ate it
Do you remember that Paul Jennings story Singenpoo
A 3 inch stick? I fucking hope not!
😍😍😍😍
please stop giving me lego to add to my wishlist! I already want the eiffel tower 😭
Sorry 😸
So if you want another year of Windows 10 support you can activate an Extended support option in Settings > Updates and security > Windows Update > Then in the middle of the window there's the extended support option, choose to backup settings to make it free.
There seems to be all these weird sneaky ways to get extra support for Windows 10. Of course there's one answer to not have to worry about Windows support at all
Oh for sure, but I can't be stuffed rolling the OS over to linux yet. Bazzite seems the way to go for my gaming rig. Kushner buying EA killed BF6 for me which was the only reason I had to use windows11 so fuckem. Plus I heard that the TPM settings required in bios make dual boot a drag so double fuck em.
Have gymed. Now delicious peanut stir fry
I have walkened and showered
Yay Melba!! Good to hear you're walking in the beautiful sunshine we've got going 😊
Fun night at work last night, computers said NO so I had to write everything down on paper instead. Then my pen said no too, snapped in half and all its insides fell out. It's just hard to find good help these days.
I think I might know your occupation 🤐
You pass today's informal news quiz with flying colours 🤣
So apparently I'm grinding my teeth less during the night, if at all, according to my partner. Which is good! I'm not waking up with god awful headaches.
But I've replaced it with clutching my doona causing tendon and muscle pain in my hands 🤦♀️
I win some, I lose some 😂
I get crampy hands because they get cold at night so I put them under my body. When I wake up and grab my phone it takes me a few goes to use the fingerprint function. First world problem.
Roadworks from 10pm till 5am for another 2 and a half weeks.
Hard to block it out when it shakes the fucking house.
Fuckers. When I was in Cheltenham and they were doing this they offered to put me up in a hotel.
But this area isn't fancy enough it seems.
I feel your pain. I also have a constant symphony
I feel your pain. I’ve been unlucky enough to be close to construction or roadworks a few times. It’s awful because it can go for months. You can try earplugs but they don’t always block out enough. Try sleep in a different room that’s furtherst from the source of the noise. Unfortunately nothing can be done to escape the vibration. Horrid. Hopefully the road crew can finish on time and it doesn’t go longer than the 2.5 weeks.
It's glorious out here. Watching the Raven family wander around. Little Raven juveniles are very demanding.
Yeah, that's why I don't have kids. It's all Mum! Mum! Mum! I want another worm! Mum!
My parents have a magpie family. Bub is trying really hard to convince Mum and Dad he’s little and helpless, even though he’s nearly as big as they are
Happy World Mushroom Day 🍄
31 tomorrow 🫣
I think tomorrow is going to be a work from home day for me
First hot day is always a shock to the system. Today is glorious outside though.
Happy Birthday! Hopefully you've avoided the lifetime health cover loading!
Glad I'm dark skinned lol
Across the road there's a share house. On days like these they sit in their driveway on the back of a Ute with shirts off, mullets flowing, drinking with not a woman in sight. I call it the Bro Club. Binoculars come in very handy.
It's ride to work day today. Nowhere near me is giving out free breakfast so I just made my own coffee and rode to work like I do most mornings.
Howdy 🤠
Woke up way too early this morning after a bad nights sleep. Wave of drowsiness has just hit. Today will need several coffees.
Melbcat’s results are back, she does have a uti still and it is enterococcus. Vets have finally given in on the antibiotics and agreed to an extended course. I’m hoping it’s ready by tomorrow.
She’s such a trooper. She’s still happily eating, curious about outside, still affectionate… it’s just so hard to get rid of this single issue.
aww, poor sweetie

Ode to Percy Bysshe Shelley
I read Ozymandias, it was very long
longer than the long long song in hop on pop
I can't remember what it was about,
it was a long time ago and I have forgotten
you were totes awesome in the OG Frankenstein movie
Byron stole the stage, he always does
so much BD energy he limps
but just like Mozart you shagged the little sister too,
Byron never did that
I stole your pome yesterday, to a Skylark
and put in some modern argot, it turned out ok 🙂
I never do know how to pronounce your name
is it Per-cee or Per-se
If you think Ozymandias is long (14 lines - it's a sonnet), then don't attempt The Bride of Abydos (1204 lines - 339 of which is a single speech).
I've always pronounced Percy as rhyming with mercy. Don't know of any major variants. I did have a teacher once with the surname Persse, but this was pronounced "purse", at least to his face.
"so much BD energy he limps" 😂😂
I think I need a coffee
Got home late tonight because a) some people were trying to get food after the Meetup but everything was closed and b) buses replacing trains. Had a lovely chat with PSOs who were very kind in walking me to my car. They told me I should've texted the stop it line for the guy last week, or even just pressed the red button. I thought the red button was for when someone's life is at danger, not a guy being a nuisance and making people feel unsafe.
Shudder sometimes gets the ratings a bit off.
Made me brace for it the whole film and nothing lol
Seems to have received bad to average reviews, but I enjoyed it! I'd call it more of a thriller with ghost elements, rather than a horror.
had a lot of sleep but will sleep some more
I GOT THE FUCKING JOB!!!!!!
Congratulations! 🥳🍾🎊🎉🎂
