Robinson's Bank and BPI Merger

I received a message a few days back that the two banks are merging, and Robinson’s bank will cease to exist.

I want to ask, what banks would you recommend I transfer my savings?

My superficial requirements are:

  • Good Name (may reputation na stable / safe siya)
  • Good App (yung well maintained and useful ang kanilang phone apps)
  • Good Customer Service (kahit may pila parati, basta di naman mala-sloth ang interaction sa customer)

Ayun lang. No mention of interest rates, etc.

Thank you :)

  • Unironically BPI. I've been banking with them for 10+ years - bilang lang ang unannounced downtime. And even though mas gusto ko pa yung old BPI app, the new BPI app is still better than most banking apps. Maganda rin kausap CS nila in my experience and kung nakilala mo na BM or RM if Preferred ka, mas madali na magbank sa kanila.

    • Nice to hear na ok naman BPI. Pangit lang recent reviews ng app nila, pero I’ll take this in to consideration :)

Also, si BPI ang surviving bank sa merger kaya defacto sila pag di ako mag-move banks.

  • If you want decent Customer Service, stay away from Unionbank. I have my savings on high interest digital banks (CIMB - mostly for Gcash integration, Seabank) but I wouldn't say they have a "good name" because they're all new.

BDO is the closest to tick of all your boxes.

    • Will check that out. Union Bank pa naman medyo mataas score sa iphone app store. Thanks for the warning.

      • UB's app is good, it's just the CS that's awful. Hindi mo alam kung autoresponder ba kausap mo or tamad lang yung sumasagot at binabato ka ng mga canned responses. Yung question ko about not being able to sign in halos isang buwan na "we're taking this seriously and investigating" variations pa rin, lol.
