Why are you posting a half baked reckon from someone with no experience in road safety beyond being a motorist? The only evidence or statistics discussed here are a quote from a government minister.

Isn't the point of an opinion piece that we hear from someone with an in depth knowledge of the topic at hand? Why should I value this person's opinion?
It was interesting to see the minister cite the fastest highway in the country – the Tauranga Eastern Link expressway at 110km/h – as the safest road in New Zealand. This was to counter the evidence that higher speeds are never safer.
