3I don’t understand why people recommend duckduckgo. Its not open source, still includes ads (sure they’re no as invasive), they’re a for profit company who will do who knows what with our data when the investors want to increase their profits, and the search results aren’t very good causing people to use the !g google shortcut anyways.
If anything people should recommend a searx instance that uses google and other engines so you still get the good search results and dont feed google your data

No content hosted on newpipe.net is owned by that copyright troll, nor there are instructions or links to pirate that exact content so I don't understand how it it can be considered valid. I should be rejected, together with all the subsequent requests

Top result on Google is newpipe.net for me. Perhaps NewPipe has already submitted a counter notice and it has been restored? That's how the DMCA is supposed to work.

How's newpipe compared to sometime like revanced? Anyone given both a go?
4With the newpipe sponsorblock fork, it's perfect. Simple and very functional. Supports more than just youtube too.
8I like NewPipe, but honestly I prefer LibreTube + [Piped](https://piped video/).
5NewPipe is better for playing a playlist in the background, ReVanced is better for active watching and browsing
5NewPipe doesn't support google login like revanced, so you have to import into the app your subscriptions. It has fewer features than revanced too, but I think the app is more optimized and has a cleaner UI. I still prefer revanced, but it's definitely worth it to try it out.

3Google search is dead for me, i have been using duck duck go for about 5 years now. If I'm searching for newpipe, I expect to get newpipe as a result. If I dont its utter wank at indenxing the internet.
3I thought Newpipe stopped working a long time ago. I could never get it to work. Time to give it another try. If it wasn't for Google blocking the site, I would have forgotten about Newpipe :-D
1Works fine, but I often have to go to the website to get the latest update. F-Droid takes a while to catch up.
3Should be near instant if you add newpipe's F-Droid repo instead of waiting for it to hit F-Droid's main repo. Been a bit since the last release though.
