Bungie, the developer behind the popular looter-shooter, Destiny and recently revealed Marathon, is working on its third game, codenamed “Gummy Bears,”
Seems like an odd choice, as I feel like the MOBA genre is on the decline as of late. Besides DOTA and LoL, are there any MOBAs that people even play anymore?
Wouldn't be the first time Bungie acted inscrutably and seemingly against logic. They let the D2 crucible languish, and think the same PvP diehards that carried them through D1 only to fall off in D2 will scramble back for 'Matter' or whatever the hell their straight up pvp fps title is supposed to be called; so it kinda holds that they'd enter the MOBA market when it's already practically a dead genre between the still-living shores of DOTA, LoL, and maybe HotS.
@CosmicSploogeDrizzle Seems Bungie has its plate full at the moment which only makes me wonder now that they’re under Sony if we are going to see better management and higher quality updates to Destiny , Marathon and the MOBA. Sony and Nintendo have been known for their quality of the games but still I’m cautiously optimistic on Bungie’s case.
Seems the opposite. Bungie has become Sony's consultants on their upcoming live service games, and they are all in on live service models if the upcoming Marathon is any indication. Sony doesn't seem to be making Bungie better, Bungie seems to be making Sony worse. I would expect fewer meaningful updates to Bungie's current titles and more monetization going forward.
