Brush: Yaqi Cashmere Synthetic Shaving Brush, Dandelion Green Handle, 24mm
Razor: Gillette Aristocrat (1948-50)
Blade: Durablade Sharp Hi Chromium (2)
Lather: Barrister & Mann - Leviathan - Shaving Soap
Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Leviathan - Aftershave Balm
Welp, my Leviathan balm is now officially gone but a decent amount of the soap is still left. I don't believe this has ever happened to me before, in fact if anything it's usually the opposite. I didn't think I was ever using too much balm each time, it was never more than a single pump. Is it possible that a single pump dispenses more than they intend for a single use? (Obviously that's possible, I just wouldn't have expected it.)
Having had a night of almost no sleep, I wasn't in the mood for a shave this morning. I was considering going without a shave, in fact, but afternoon rolled around and I started feeling in the mood for oud. King of Oud is an oldy but a goody for Wholly Kaw. I think it's a great scent, and for me, every soap base WK has is extraordinary.
Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, stainless steel)
Lather: Stirling Soap Co. Varen
Aftershave: Mühle Aloe Vera Rasurlotion
The big Frio 14 is just a wonderful razor. I'm enjoying many of my straights, but there's something about this one that they just can't replicate. It's maybe the combination of heft and extra fine grind that gives this feeling of gentle control.
The splash was my go to post shave in my early days in this hobby, and it felt good using it again.
I broke my rule tonight of not using a straight after 22:00 – but the Barbarossa is so small and cute, that normal straight rules don't apply. Hybris leads to punishment? Not tonight. Everything went smoothly, and no blood was shed.
Ishtar was the obvious choice for tonight, after learning some cuneiform signs.
