Weekly what have you been playing discussion - week of August, 21, 2023

I've been replaying Hollow Knight. This game is so damn good. Going to complete it today ready for Sea of Stars tomorrow.

Actually, nothing. I've bounced from Bloodborne to Hogwarts Legacy and I'm eagerly awaiting Trine 5, Lies of P and to a lesser extent Starfield so I'm kind of just...not playing anything right now. And you know what? That's pretty nice too.

This last week - factorio, working on city blocks, it's a little daunting, but hoping the blueprints will serve me in upcoming modded runs that need more scaling.

Vampire survivors, caught a sale, fun as hell if a bit of a patient gamers moment. If you just emerged from under a rock, it's a minimalistic horde survival roguelite with lots of metaprogression through unlocks, reminds me of an oldie called Crimsonland.

Latest pickup was book of hours: a game made by the guys that did Cultist Simulator, with a similar cards mechanic but a little less stress with everything trying to kill you. Was a little confusing at first but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Little bit of Orb of Creation: the 0.6 patch is in beta and overhauls the whole game. Combat currently disabled but research, artifacts, and augments in general were made way more interesting. This is an incremental game (big numbers, very casual difficulty, goal tends to be to unlock more stuff and bigger numbers).

"Stray Gods" is an incredibly beautiful game. I was turned off by the playstyle at first, but then I embraced it and got really invested in the characters and the story. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys Greek mythology and/or fantastic stories about interpersonal drama and enjoys games with tough dialogue choices.

The soundtrack also!!! It's a musical game and the songs are all SO BEAUTIFUL. I teared up a few times.

Nothing because i'm on holiday this week, but when i'll go home, i'll go back playing Remnant 2 for my third campaign playthrough, this time in nightmare difficulty :)

With friends: Deep Rock Galactic. It's just good fun, and how all the game systems come together means you can easily play it with friends for 1-2 hours a night without it going stale (at least in my opinion).

Solo: I just picked up Baldur's Gate 3. Not even off the Nautiloid yet, and it's not my normal style of game (normally more action focused), but it's gotten good reviews not just for the game but the attitude the developer has taken, and that I want to support. I also want a change of pace to be honest.

Dave the Diver for the moment, really good game, but i think i am near the end!

I've been playing Forspoken. If you treat it as a AA game it's actually really decent, if you're into ubisoft collectathon open world games.
