Denuvo by Irdeto now registered as authorized Nintendo Switch™ middleware
Game developers and publishers can now access the video game protection software in the middleware section of the Nintendo Developers Portal.
And here we go. Expect your C-tier AAA games to have Denuvo on Switch, stopping players from emulating it.
What's the point of locking down the console if games still include DRM?
Locking down the console stops the vast majority attempting piracy, drm attempts to stop the small minority attempting piracy
I don't think it really has much to do with DRM. It's practically well known at this point that consoles are easy to pirate through emulation. Especially with the constant day 1 emulation articles
Yuck.
So just a roundabout way to keep people from emulating games? People are gonna figure out how to relate your games. We took many years but we can finally emulate Banjo Tooie. Good games sell well and don't lose really to piracy, bad (lazily made) games deserve to be pirated
