Linux Mint is Building a New Desktop Chat App
A new IRC client (but don't call it an IRC client) is being developed by Linux Mint. The Ubuntu-based distro currently includes Hexchat in its default
To what end though? Where will this be going and what will be the use? I feel like at this point the chat program demographics are just bursting with choices and I'm not sure why you would pick this one over anything else.

It's a chat app dedicated to the Linux Mint irc channels.
It's for users and developers to discuss all things Mint in a pre-installed and configured application.
