I've had kiosks prompt me for tips, even making me hit Custom and type 0.00.
I'm so tired of Wall Street Journal, Readers Digest, Square, and Clover pushing the idea that we need to tip everybody everywhere because covid. It's ridiculous. I don't want to live in a country where everybody behind a counter can be paid $2.13 an hour.
the unfortunate truth is higher wages are a half measure. Once you raise wages, what does every tom dick and jane business owner do? raise their prices to match the increased wage. I'm not skilled enough in socioeconomics but the wage increase would need to be followed by a system protection of goods and services at the current value, which is already inflated.
