Their uniforms may be a little unorthodox, but their experience with time warps will make them an invaluable asset to the Federation
Captain Archer had previously been stuck in some kind of quantum tachyon loop and with holographic inversion so he had to present himself in the appropriate attire for the era.
Or something like that… oh boy.
Not that he was uncomfortable, it's just a lot of work looking that good.
