[Hikari] May Desktop (Void)
[Hikari] May Desktop (Void)
A minimal desktop setup.
Info:
- Programs: Emacs, Devdocs, pfetch, imv
- WM: Hikari
- OS: Void linux
- Art by: Escher
- Dotfiles
Recently switched from Guix to Void, mostly because it's much simpler and I felt that my desktop didn't need the complexity of Guix.
“my desktop didn’t need the complexity of Guix”
so … Alpine next?
6ReplyMaybe, not sure how musl compares to glibc. I quite like Runit and xbps though so I don't feel like I'm in a rush.

10/10 distro and 10/10 setup. FWMs ftw
4ReplyYeah, I think Hikari combines the best of both. In the rare cases I need to tile, it has that capability but in most cases I have 1-2 windows and find it easier to work with them when the windows are smaller.
2ReplyI would use it but on my hardware its buggy and unmaintained.
1ReplyHmm how hard is it to configure and add window decorations? I might take a look at it if I can use it without key bindings

is hikari good as a floating wm?
3ReplyI think it's very underrated. It has some features I really appreciate:
- Tiling features when needed, W+l s tiles everything when I need it.
- Great shortcuts, like go to next busy desktop, maximize height of window
- Holding win reveals the title of the window.
- Cursor follows active window
It matches my workflow very well.
3ReplyDoes it work well for you? I used cwm on X11 (fairly similar to Hikari), but last time I tried Hikari on Void I kept running into weird issues.
