The way the cloak is hung, it looks like the executioner was remorseful about his job and actions. Which I seriously doubt was the case.
He executed and tortured some ~500 people, retired with a pension, and died peacefully in his bed at the age of 90. So no, probably not particularly remorseful.
I'm surprised he needed the girdle with such a big cloak
