Matt Mullenweg behavior tracker.
  • Basically, he's a CEO and therefore thinks every dollar on earth is his by right. I think the best summary is that he's using his competing positions at the non-profit foundation to benefit his for-profit company.

WordPress.org’s latest move involves taking control of a WP Engine plugin
  • Tl;Dr is that matt mullenweg saw that other people were making money from free open source software, and his capitalism boner is trying to fuck everyone over.

He has control over both WPEngines competition and the non-profit Foundation, and is using his Foundation position to try extort his for-profit company's competition. Typical CEO behaviour.

1 bug, $50,000+ in bounties, how Zendesk intentionally left a backdoor in hundreds of Fortune 500 companies
  • Noting that the only bounties were from some of the many 3rd party companies using Zendesk. Zendesk themselves did NOTHING.

As a commentor there said: "The best way to incentivize malicious activity is not to reward philanthropic behaviour. The next exploit for ZenDesk will be sold directly to the darkweb after having read this."

Kamala Harris says ‘I will not be silent’ on suffering in Gaza after Netanyahu talks
  • If only she were the current sitting vice president of the United states of America, I.e. was in a position of power where she and the other members of the executive branch could take action as well as "striking a tough tone".

Actions, as always, speak louder than words.

Dutch volleyball player Steven van de Velde on Paris Olympics team 8 years after child rape
  • Using performance enhancing drugs can result in a lifetime ban from the Olympics, with Wikipedia saying it's an "integrity" issue. Aren't we glad that raping a literal child isn't an integrity issue?

The news where I live often calls Olympic winners "sports heroes", I think this person should never be allowed anywhere near an event that might make people label them a hero.

    President 360 No Scope...
  • Thank you for being a far better person than I, in that you actually give enough of a fuck to remember at least one specific, named person who was murdered in the way I was described.

This is not sarcasm it's a genuine emotional appreciation. I don't have it in me to remember, since all the shit news day in and day out just all blurs together and is too much for me to cope with if I tried to remember, but I'm glad someone is.

    President 360 No Scope...
  • So... Same as it's been since the war on terror began in 2001?

Oh, now they can assassinate white people in first world countries, not just drop bombs on weddings in mideast countries. I see. Totally makes all the difference.

(I am feeling very cynical here haha, I get this is a big significant legal precedent for the USA but yeah)

Ministry of Justice workers call researcher a 'bitch' in online conversation
  • She did the request for her own info because she suspected staff were dragging their heels with her other requests, and the request for her own info proved her suspicions were well-founded.

Asking for information on how a section of government operates should be commended, not discouraged. The government works for the people and their operations should be transparent. Doubly so when they act like they have something to hide.

But, Ive been a staff member who had a bad day and found a customer's legitimate request frustrating - "this is the last thing I needed" - so I have some level of sympathy for the staffers too.

Total War: ROME II and Creative Assembly — My Statement Ten Years On
  • I was such a fan of the original RTW. It was such a shame how bad the launch of II was, and to this day I've never played it. By the time it was fixed, there were other games out that were never broken to begin with.

A supermarket trip may soon look different, thanks to electronic shelf labels
  • In my country we've had these electronic labels for many years, using them was part of my first real job a decade ago. And here they definitely can be updated centrally, and in near real time.

    A better Lemmy lemonade!
  • I used to drive past their factory every day on the way to work. Should have taken a photo for all those sweet internet points, rip

Tbh though you can barely tell it's their factory from the outside, if not for their vans parked around you'd never know.

Bungie Wins Legal Battle Against Destiny 2 YouTuber Over Fake DMCA Takedown Claims
  • So, a corporation fucked a guy over, and when he retaliated using the same method they fucked him over with, he gets punished by the law while nothing happens to them?

Not saying he was right to do what he did but I understand why he'd feel aggrieved by them. And fuck the "rule of law" that so blatantly supports corporations over people.

Any noobie guide on switch piracy and along with emulator setup?
  • If one owned a real switch would that alter any of the steps? Like, I imagine whatever keys you need would be on it?

For the record I know nothing and am just guesstimating based on 90's PS1 emulation.
