People of Lemmy who have either "reinvented themselves" or gone through a mid/quarter-life crisis, where did you start off and where did you end up?
  • Hey, I just want to say thanks for posting this. I'm just a random internet stranger, but I'm happy for you. I think Fred Rogers sums it up best, he is the epitome of kindness to me.

    It's you I like,

It's not the things you wear,

It's not the way you do your hair

    But it's you I like

The way you are right now,

The way down deep inside you

Not the things that hide you,

    Not your toys

    They're just beside you.

    But it's you I like

    Every part of you.

Your skin, your eyes, your feelings

    Whether old or new.

    I hope that you'll remember

    Even when you're feeling blue

    That it's you I like,

    It's you yourself

    It's you.

    It's you I like.

    Where can we donate?
  • I don't see anywhere to donate at this time, I'd like to throw five bucks at the project every now and again. GitHub Sponsors may be an option, but there's a wait list it looks like. A lot of third party clients don't have a way to donate yet, which is unfortunate.

  • Thanks! That reminds me, I need to reinstall ShareX, I knew there was something missing after getting a new PC haha.

  • Buy into your home instance instead by setting up a recurring monthly donation. It's doesn't have to be a lot, some have tiers as low as $1. Alternatively, you could donate to the Lemmy dev team, or some of the devs that are creating these spiffy apps we're using on our phones.

  • I knew we were boned when the Tonganoxie split didn't happen. We were pretty lucky to just have a power blip at my place, it only went out for about 30 seconds. At least there wasn't any hail this time. On a side note, I love sunsets after a good storm, the colors are stunning.

  • Same, I migrated from Plex to Jellyfin about a year ago. It's just as solid without any of the bloat, local authentication just in case the internet goes down, and transcoding isn't locked behind a membership.

Not only does he miss the excitement of the big city, but he also has a well-meaning oaf for a partner. However, when a series of grisly accidents rocks Sandford, Angel smells something rotten in the idyllic village. >

I came up with the idea for this community in the shower. What if I want to watch a movie with people from all over the world, and talk about it in a live thread? Live threads for sporting events and TV shows are pretty common, but I don't think I've seen it applied to movies before. The concepts are simple:

    1. Create an announcement post 2-12 hours before you want to host a watch party. This gives people time to find a copy of the movie, if they're interested in participating. If you have the means, you can also mention that you'll be streaming the movie on the official Discord server for those that don't have access to the movie.

    2. Create the live thread 30-60 minutes before the watch party starts. If you're going to be streaming on Discord, be sure to include the link to the server invite as well for anyone that wants to join in at the last minute.

    3. At the designated time, everyone presses play, and discusses the movie in the live thread.
