Being unable to be loved or embraced is sad.
  • There are some countries in Europe that provide out free employment skill classes. Maybe look in you're local area, many of them can teach you basic computer skills.

Edit: You've made multiple posts on Lemmy where there are some minor tech barriers to entry so you certainly aren't unteachable.

Americans that have moved to Puerto Rico, what's it like and would recommend it?
  • So people who live in Washington DC can vote for President. D.C. has 3 electoral college votes. Puerto Rico does not have any electoral votes. (They do hold primaries that also don't seem to really count).

DC does lack full voting representation in Congress just like US territories (e.x. Puerto Rico, Samoa, Guam). I do think their delegate can vote on some things in congress, I don't remember the details of what, but it's definitely not a full congressional vote.

Coming on Lemmy and complaining because there are too many Linux users is like going in to a brothel and complaining that there are too many hookers
  • Not who you were talking to but most people who have a PC at home aren't installing an OS on it. They're using windows cause that's what came out of the box. Most of us windows users wouldn't go out of our way to install windows if Linux came preprogrammed. It's more convenient to not install any damn thing.

Teens Want Less Sex in Movies and TV Shows, Study Finds
  • Nobody is arguing that all movies need to remove violence or sexy? Where are you even getting that from?

But no one here is arguing the problem is inherently with sex or romance....you pulled that assumption out of your ass. The entire point of this thread is that unnecessary sex or violence is a crutch of bad film making...

Teen, 14, Dies by Suicide After Falling in 'Love' with AI Chatbot. Now His Mom Is Suing
  • There are a lot of people who believe in an afterlife and they don't shoot themselves in the head. You need to have a certain level of mental illness/suicidal ideation going on for that to make sense. It's pretty insane that you're trying to make this a "youth are too dumb to understand suicide" thing.

Also a bunch of the people in Jonestown were directly murdered.

Laptop is depolymerizing -- how can I remedy this?
  • We used goo gone in a facility I once worked in where we had to remove stickers from plastic totes. Nothing got rid of the adhesives as quickly or easily. Theres like half a dozen different solvents in goo gone, I definoverprnot just brand name acetone.

Just learned how a certain autism test works, im irked.
  • I dont think thats what the test is sorting on. I think its sorting on how people initially understand the question. I'm not autistic and I would have assumed that they were asking about vibes, at least for the beach photo (fuck that corporate training stuff). It would have taken additional clarification from the tester for me to assume they were asking about the literal people in the specific picture. I understood the question as "what idea do you assume I'm trying to convey with this photo" and not "what in literal reality is happening in this photo".

The assumption that they wanted to know about the specific people pictured would not have immediately occurred to me but seems to be the first assumption of people who are autistic. So there may be a different way of thinking between allistic and autistic happening which I assume is what the test is measuring.

That said I don't think either way of looking at the picture is wrong. I do think though that if you're going to take an autism test you shouldn't be upset if the test tells you that your answers indicate that you are autistic or that you are allistic. Youre literally asking for that feedback when engaging with the test...

    Preppers
  • Ammo starts to degrade after about 10-20 years assuming your storing it well. Which is less likely to be true in the "end times". 2 decades is a long time but depending on your age it's not a life time, and firing damaged ammo can be dangerous.

  • A lot of these militia guys also don't learn the survival tasks they consider feminine. How many know any sort of gathering skills, cooking anything not meat based, laundry, mending clothes? Those are probably more day to day useful during the apocalypse than rifle shooting or how to wear camo paint.

Insurance is failing hurricane survivors: ‘People thought they were covered’
  • Asheville is in the mountains, one of the reasons it was such a big story is that no one expected Asheville to flood. I'm not surprised almost no one up there has flood insurance.
