I am a Georgia poll worker. Republicans’ new rules are making me lose sleep
  • The Republican-controlled board’s newest rule allows county officials to delay certification if poll workers comply imperfectly with their long list of new and old rules—irregularities they can call “malfeasant.” And if that’s not intimidating enough, the Board also ruled that poll watchers, those watchdogs volunteering from both the Right and the Left, should have closer physical access—even though most have had only two hours of training, even though most are not familiar enough with protocol to know what “normal” is supposed to look like.

How much do you all pay for Power?
  • US, Mojave desert, SCE. Got solar and battery right before NEM3.0 and prices jumped. It’s saved me thousands although it will be a few more years before I break even.

People who lived in an HOA, what was your biggest nightmare with them?
  • They casually inform first time buyers that the roof needs to be replaced, all the piping leaks, the elevator is past its service life, and the previous management ripped them off so we’re critically underfunded, but the board didn’t get voted out.

Finally convinced one do-nothing to not run for reelection but it’s been a problem. I think we’re paying $450/mo, no amenities. There’s been a hole in the hallway ceiling for 3 months after the last plumbing repair.

We have a 4x15ft patch of grass that one day turned into dirt. I think we’re paying landscapers to maintain two bushes at this point because they haven’t touched that dirt pad.

Why would someone desire a pension instead of a 401k?
  • 30 and out. Work for a single company for 30 years and you can retire by 50 with full pension. Doesn’t exist anymore, but it used too.

What stands out the most about you?
  • Eyes I guess. Every once in a while a random stranger will comment on them. Usually cashiers.

“I thought you were an asshole at first but after getting to know you you’re one of the funniest nicest people I know” got that a few times. It’s not really a “stand out“ observation but it’s an odd characteristic. I’m not very proud of it.

People who have those extra fold out laptop monitors, are they any good?
  • Yes, it has two usbc ports and does charging pass through. You just need a decent usb-c cable between the monitor and the laptop. I think usb3.2 or thunderbolt4 are the protocols that can do video and power.

US Postal Service electric trucks are finally here and drivers love them
  • Rivian doesn't have the production capacity or the knowledge of navigating federal-level bureaucracy. I'd also rather it go to Rivian but I understand why they didn't. I doubt that even Tesla could do it.

People who have those extra fold out laptop monitors, are they any good?
  • I have one from dell. It has the dell matte finish which I’m not a fan of. It does pass through power so I can put the usbc charge cable on the monitor, then a cable from the monitor to the laptop, to avoid using 2 usbc ports on the laptop. Because of the cable layout I can’t put it right up next to the laptop.

It folds down and is light but I only put it in my bag if I know I’m goin to use it.

I’d get another but I would get Lenovos model to hopefully have the same style finish in the screen.

I have an old v8 laying around that’s not very useful to me. Is there a company that sells conversion kits that replace the alternator and starter with an EV motor? I can’t seem to find one.

We are announcing that on October 4, 2024, VMware Skyline will reach End-of-Life (EOL). | |

    | This change is necessary as part of our vision for the future of self-help issue avoidance and diagnostics for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) as part of VMware by Broadcom. | |   | | Skyline EOL |

    | VMware Skyline Advisor service will be turned off for all customers. All collected data will be deleted and Skyline Advisor services will be disabled. | |   | | Recommendation |

    | VMware Skyline Advisor's features are being rolled into VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware vSphere Foundation, under VCF Operations and Diagnostics - "Powered by Skyline". We recommend upgrading to VCF/VVF 5.2 or Aria Operations v8.18 to take advantage of the new diagnostics and self-help features. | |   |

    | Starting with VCF 5.2 (July 2024), Critical Findings and Self-Help recommendations will be available directly in the product. |

    | We are planning to bring many of the other Skyline features into VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware vSphere Foundation in future release iterations. |

    |   | | Skyline Health Diagnostics (SHD) will continue to be available until further notice. |

    |   | | In preparation for Skyline Advisor's end of life, Skyline customers only need to shut down their Skyline Collector(s) and revert any changes made in the deployment of VMware Skyline such as removing any firewall rules or any accounts created specifically for the purpose of operating the Skyline service. Please refer to the VMware Skyline Advisor Users Guide section on exiting Skyline. | |   |

    | Thank you for your patience during this transition period. | | |

    |   | | Best Regards,  | | VMware Skyline Team  | | |
